Peter Gordon

Peter Gordon is a Professor in the School of Urban Planning and Development and the Department of Economics at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. From 1992 to 1994, he served as Dean of the School of Urban Planning and Development and, from 1982 to 1992, served as the Director of Research for the Planning Institute at USC.
- Dr. Gordon's research has spanned a wide range of urban development and planning issues, including transportation planning, urban sprawl, growth controls, regional growth and population change.
- He has also published more than 50 articles on planning, urban development and transportation issues since 1980 in leading professional publications, including the Journal of the American Planning Association, Environment and Planning A, Transportation Research A, and the Journal of Urban Economics.
- Professor Gordon has consulted with dozens of public and private organizations, including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Commerce, the World Bank, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the California Department of Transportation, the Southern California Association of Governments and the California Energy Commission.
- He is also the co-editor of Planning and Markets, a member of the editorial board for the Annals of Regional Science, and a former member of the editorial board for the Journal of Planning Education and Research (1983-87).
- Peter received his B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1965, his M.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California in 1967, and his Ph.D. in Regional Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1971.
