David Swindell

David Swindell is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Previously, he also worked as a Research Associate in the Center for Urban and Public Affairs at Wright State University and an independent research consultant to local communities.
- Dr. Swindell worked as the neighborhood liaison with the Center for Urban Policy and the Environment in Indianapolis, providing technical assistance to Indianapolis-based neighborhood groups and residents. As the liaison and center researcher, he helped community groups form neighborhood governments and governance structures in Indianapolis. His work with neighborhood groups continues through the Center for Urban and Public Affairs at Wright State University and the statewide Urban University Neighborhood Network.
- Dr. Swindell's research has been published in numerous academic journals, including Research in Public Administration, the Journal of Urban Affairs, Economic Development Quarterly, and Public Administration Review
- His work on the economic impact and financing of sports stadia has appeared in numerous academic journals and books, including Sports, Taxes and Jobs (Brookings Institution, 1997), Major League Losers: The Real Cost of Sports and Who's Paying for It (Basic Books, 1997), and Urban Leadership and City Management: Indianapolis and the Rebuilding of an American Metropolis (Indiana University Press, 1995).
- Dr. Swindell received his B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1988 and Ph.D. in the joint Ph.D. Program in Public Policy at Indiana University in 1997.
